The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal is investigating a residential structure fire that was reported on April 30, 2025, shortly after 07:30 AM in the 10000 block of Ryans Run Lincoln, Delaware.
The Ellendale Volunteer Fire Company and assisting mutual aid fire companies arrived on scene and found heavy flames coming from a single-family dwelling. The house was occupied at the time of the fire however all occupants were able to evacuate safely.
Delaware Deputy State Fire Marshal’s responded to the scene and conducted an origin and cause investigation. It was determined that the fire originated in a bedroom. The cause was determined to be a juvenile playing with a lighter and igniting available combustibles. The juvenile has been referred to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program as a result. Damage is estimated at $200,000. The house was equipped with smoke detectors and there we no other reported injuries.
